JAE Launches a Compact and High-Performance Antenna Compatible with European Frequency Bands for IoT Communications

Japan Aviation Electronics Industry, Ltd (JAE) announced today the launch of the AN010860C00, a new variation of the compact and high-performance antenna AN01 series (*1), which is compatible with European frequency bands used in IoT communications such as low power wide area (LPWA).
By collecting and analyzing remote sensor information such as smart meter terminals and radio frequency identification (RFID) devices, IoT communication reduces labor, improves production efficiency, enables real-time monitoring, etc. It is expected to spread in various applications and geographical areas. Unlicensed sub-GHz frequency bands are commonly used in IoT communications for the purpose of long-distance communication and low power consumption. The 920-MHz frequency band is used in countries such as Japan, United States, Korea, and Australia, whereas the 860-MHz frequency band is mainly used in European countries, India, Russia, and so on.
JAE currently provides the compact and high-performance antenna AN010920C00 in the 920-MHz band and has launched the AN010860C00 that is compatible in the 860-MHz frequency band. The size and land pattern of the AN010860C00 are the same as those of the AN010920C00. By swapping antennas, a circuit board can be compatible with either the 920- or 860-MHz frequency bands, which reduces a customer’s design cost of globally compatible devices. The AN010860C00 achieves a radiation efficiency as high as 85% at maximum in the supported frequency range, and has a near-omnidirectional radiation pattern (*2). Similar to other AN01 series antennas, it also supports automatic mounting and the reflow process, which contributes to reduce antenna installation costs.
JAE will continue to add variations to its antenna products to provide better wireless communication environments, and make proposals to meet its customers’ antenna usage conditions.
The AN010860C00 will be exhibited at “CEATEC 2021 ONLINE” from October 19, 2021.
