New Release: Vehicle-to-Grid Suitable CCS2 Connectors – KW21A Series
April 20, 2026
The KW21A Series now supports a rated current of 100A, which can offer up to 100kW with 1000V battery systems or 40kW with standard 400V vehicle architecture.
JAE officially released the KW21A Series CCS2¹ EV charging and discharging connectors.

Overview
As the movement to electric vehicles grows exponentially, the demand on electric vehicle charging grows and infrastructure supporting them expands. The CCS2 has emerged as the leading EV charging standard in Europe due to its versatility and growing support for Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. The integration of Vehicle-to-Grid capabilities into the CCS standard allows electric vehicles to function as large power storage systems that enable charging and discharging. The bi-directional charging of electric vehicles is best served with low power DC charging to maximize energy efficiency. Using a low power continuous connection between the vehicle and home can enable the opportunity to charge electric vehicles with the lowest energy cost, and support the home and energy grid at time of high demand, when and where desired.
The KW21A Series charging cables from JAE are designed to be IEC 62196-3 standard compliant, and are designed for up to 40A or 100A solutions. The KW21A Series connectors are robust, lightweight and compact. The ergonomic grip structure enables comfortable handling and ease of use.
Furthermore, the design achieves a high weather resistance and offers a double insulation design, ensuring additional protection in the case where the outer body is damaged.
JAE develops EV charging connectors that combine durability and high-quality performance under the Powerlance™ brand, which provides safety and ease-of-use, as well as high environmental durability. JAE will continue to meet a wide variety of customer needs by expanding the lineup of products in the KW Series of EV charging connectors.
