MY05 Series is Now Available: High-Voltage, Low-Current Connectors for Battery Management Systems

JAE has developed the MY05 Series, a high-voltage, low-current connector with a rated voltage of 1,000 V, for connections between contactors or relays, to a BMS (battery management system).

Overview
Extending the range of EVs (electric vehicles) is a key issue in their development. Although EV batteries have been increasing in capacity, this increase in capacity comes with the problem of increased charging time. Thus, to charge large-capacity batteries more quickly without using significantly larger conductors, the demand to increase battery voltages to 800 V or higher, has grown.
In light of this, JAE has developed the MY05 Series, a connector with a rated voltage of 1,000 V to meet future high-voltage demands for battery management systems. This product ensures the necessary insulation distance corresponding to a 1,000 V rating (compliant with the IEC 60664-1 standard) while maintaining a compact size, contributing to the miniaturization of BMSs. Additionally, to meet a wide range of demands across different regions, the socket connector is available with or without a CPA (connector position assurance). The lineup includes two types of socket housings that are compatible with different socket terminals: the same used in the MX80 Series of connectors, and a European standard terminal type.
This time, we are launching a 14 positions socket connector with CPA and an angled pin header connector. We plan to launch the 10 positions, without CPA, and straight models listed in the table below in the near future.

- Compatible with a rated voltage of 1,000 V and dielectric withstanding voltage of 4,800 V
- Compatible with the IEC 60664-1 standard for creepage and clearance distance between the terminals
- The plastic materials are UL94 V-0, halogen-free, PFAS-free, and meets CTI 600 standards
- Adopts a European standard 0.63 mm tab size
- Two variants of socket connectors are planned for release: one variant using MX80 Series terminals, and another using European standard terminals
- Socket connectors are available with or without CPA
- Pin header connectors are common for all socket connector types
- The pin header connector is through-hole reflow (pin-in-paste) compatible
- Tested to USCAR-2/37 and LV214/215 standards
- Three mating key options are planned for release (for both angled and straight pin headers)
