Automotive Ethernet 1000BASE-T1 Compatible Models to Join MX74 Series Connectors
January 20, 2026
JAE has expanded its MX74 Series Automotive Ethernet connectors. In addition to the existing 100BASE-T1 compliant models, 1000BASE-T1 compliant models supporting 1Gbps communication speed have been released.
Overview
SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) development in the automotive industry brings new electrical/electronic (E/E) architectures along with high-performance Advanced Driver Assistance Systems such as LiDAR, requiring higher data rates for Automotive Ethernet.
SDVs enable aftermarket functional updates via software as we experience with smartphones, providing a wide range of services at connected cars. High-speed network technology development is essential as more ECUs (Electronic Control Unit) communicate along with a telematics communication module. Recently, ADAS applications have emerged with an increasing demand for higher communication speeds between ECUs and high-performance sensors.
JAE added 1Gbps data rate of 1000BASE-T1 (*1) compliant connectors to MX74 Automotive Ethernet Series. 1G Automotive Ethernet model features compact and low-profile design with a Pin header width of 10.3mm and height of 11.35mm, and a Socket width of 9.5mm and height of 12.5mm, supporting space saving in vehicles with high-density devices and components. Shielding performance complies with Class 1, as defined by the Channel and Component Requirements for 1000BASE-T1 Link Segment Type A (STP) Ver 2.0 at the Open Alliance (*2). JAE will continue to meet the high-speed communication needs of advanced in-vehicle networks.
- 1000BASE-T1 (IEEE802.3bp): Standard for Ethernet communication at 1Gbps over a single twisted-pair cable.
- The Open Alliance: Standards organization to coordinate and enable Automotive Ethernet technology specifications and the ecosystem.
