Group Sites (Japan/Overseas)

This page provides an introduction to the FY 2011 activities of a select number of group sites.

●Akishima Plant
The JAE Akishima Plant cooperates with the Akishima city authorities to carry out cleanup activities every year around the plant. In FY 2011, cleanup was carried out a total of four times. Sixty-two people took part, and 62 kg of garbage was collected.

●JAE Hirosaki, Ltd. (HAE) 
(1)      On Sunday, May 22, 2011, 16 employees from the company took part in a tree-planting program on Mt. Iwaki organized by a local forest volunteer group. It was lightly raining, but many groups and individuals took part, and a total of 290 people broke into teams to plant 1,000 saplings over a wide area, motivated by the hope that the saplings will grow into large trees.

(2)      The Iwaki River brings many blessings to the daily lives of local residents. In gratitude for these benefits, a total of 22 employees spent two hours collecting about 30 kg of empty cans, plastic bottles and other consumer garbage for 1 km around the riverside sports ground where the company holds its annual softball tournament. The cleanup was held on Saturday, October 22.

●JAE Yamagata, Ltd.

On Saturday, June 25, 2011, employees picked up garbage within the industrial estate. Around 100 people including children gathered despite the light rain. The number of children taking part was greater than last year, and families appear to be participating in a spirit of recreation.Although the quantity of rubbish is declining each year, the types of rubbish found seem to be increasingly diverse, including home appliances.

●JAE Fuji, Ltd. (FAE)

(1)      Environmental beautification and cleanup effort at Mt. FujiOn Saturday, August 6, 2011, the company once again took part in beautification and cleaning activities organized by the Mt. Fuji Beautification Foundation. This was the second time the company has taken part, and 13 people including the company president, members of the environmental management committee and their families participated. This year the Mt. Fuji Beautification Foundation celebrates its 50th anniversary, and 1,900 volunteers took part in the cleanup including Japan's minister of the environment, the governor of Yamanashi Prefecture and representatives of local municipalities and private enterprise.

(2)      Uenohara Industrial Estate cleanup activities
On Friday, July 8, 2011, the Uenohara Industrial Estate Business Cooperative organized cleanup activities within the estate. A total of about 50 employees from the various companies on the estate took part, cleaning up the roads, footpaths, parks and so on within the estate. The activity lasted for about an hour and a half. Seven people fromJAE Fuji, including the environmental management committee and secretariat at the Uenohara Plant took part, reflecting the company's basic approach of business development that seeks to be rooted in the community.


●JAE Shinshu, Ltd. (SAE)

(1)      Tenryu River environmental picnic
This year marked the 19th occasion of this event, held so that employees can experience the Tenryu River as it is, as well as to understand the significance and importance of separate disposal of garbage. It is part of the company's cleanup campaign for achieving a sustainable society. On Sunday, May 22, everybody gathered with their families to walk along the embankment and riverbed at their own pace, picking up garbage. Enough garbage was collected to fill a small truck, and the participants then separated out the different kinds of materials.

(2)      Maintaining trails on Mt. Eboshi
On Saturday, July 23, 2011, JAE took part in again this year in an event organized by the local Chamber of Commerce to maintain hiking trails. At 2,194 m high, Mt. Eboshi is a relatively easy climb, and mountaineers come from outside the prefecture to hike the mountain trails. Employees visited the mountain in the summer to clear brush from the trails so that climbers can enjoy the natural scenery safely.

(3)      Garbage collection around the company
On Wednesday, September 28, 2011 the company carried out garbage collection around the company as it does at this time every year. The participants split into two groups. The group on Course A went around outside the company, and the group on Course B went around nearby main roads picking up garbage thrown from passing cars. The activity was carried out for about 30 minutes before the start of the working day. Under a pleasant autumn sky, it was a good opportunity to clean up the local area and raise awareness of environmental protection. 


●JAE Philippines
The Earth Day ceremony is an annual activity held by the local government of Cavite Province. The company takes part in a community parade and an environmental forum. 

●JAE Wuxi
(1)      Elimination of disposable chopsticks
The company has discontinued the disposable chopsticks provided for meals. Employees now provide their own chopsticks, thus reducing the amount of waste. 

(2)      Environmental cleanup activities
Representatives of each department carry out cleanup activities every month within and around the plant.
