Hybrid AOC (Active Optical Cable) "RP04 Series" For High Speed Transmission and Power Supply Has Been Launched
|JAE has developed and launched the AOC (Active Optical Cable) "RP04 Series", which has an electrical connector interface, but converts electrical signals to optical inside the plug and transmits data through the cable using optical fiber.
With the recent increase in high-definition graphics and high-speed communications, there is a growing demand for high-speed connections in various markets and devices.
However, conventional electrical copper harnesses have limitations in transmission speed and transmission distance, and optical harnesses have the need for dust prevention and precise mating during operation. Therefore there is a requirement for a new solution that can realize easy handling, while having high-speed and long distance transmission capability.
With these market needs as a baseline, JAE has developed and launched the RP04 Series, blending the easy handling of an electrical connection with the high-speed, long distance and noise resistance capability of an optical transmission.
The RP04 Series allows for high-speed signals, low-speed signals, and power supply to be incorporated in a single hybrid cable adding to its flexibility for use in various transmission requirements.
Also, in order to save board mounting space, the receptacle connector has been downsized.
The plug is available in a friction lock and a mechanical lock type, but both can mate with the same receptacle connector. The plug lock type can be selected based on the customers' needs.
This product can be used for devices that require high-speed and long distance transmission including various wearable devices like HMD (Head Mount Display), and machine tools requiring noise resistance, high-speed and long distance transmission, and industrial and medical equipment that handle high definition graphics.
