DX07 Series: USB Type-C® Compression Mount Connectors with Enhanced Repairability and Robustness

JAE has developed a new compression-type USB Type-C receptacle within its DX07 Series. This product is engineered to meet the EU’s ESPR regulation and is aligned with the French Repairability Index, offering improved repairability and robustness.
Overview
In response to escalating global environmental concerns, the European Union enacted the ESPR in July 2024. The regulation mandates that nearly all physical products be designed with repairability, durability, reusability, and recyclability in mind.
Additionally, the French organization Stop to Planned Obsolescence (HOP) introduced the Repairability Index, a 10-point self-assessment based on five criteria: availability of technical documentation, ease of disassembly, required tools, spare parts availability and pricing, and product-specific factors.
To support these initiatives, JAE has developed a compression-type USB Type-C receptacle that allows for easy replacement without soldering. Unlike traditional SMT-mounted connectors, this new design enables end users to easily replace only the connector, avoiding full board replacement.
The receptacle features a high-strength, precision-engineered MIM (Metal Injection Molding) shell for superior durability. It can be replaced using a standard screwdriver, making it ideal for sustainable product development.
JAE has played a key role in the development and standardization of USB Type-C connectors and cables. The DX07 Series includes a wide range of receptacles, plugs, and cable harnesses. We remain committed to expanding this lineup to support a more sustainable future.
