This page provides an introduction to the fiscal 2013 activities of a select number of group sites.

●JAE Akishima Plant
Cleanup activities around the Akishima Plant
As one way to contribute to the local community, in fiscal 2013, the JAE Akishima Plant once again participated in the “Akishima Clean Campaign,” cleaning up areas around the Akishima Plant. The activities were held three times, on September 12 and December 12, 2013 and again on March 1, 2014. A total of 80 participants collected 30.5kg of trash overall. The garbage included items such as books, paper waste, vinyl goods, plastics, cigarette butts, bottles and cans, and other types.

●JAE Hirosaki, Ltd. (HAE)

(1) Eco-Driving Training
On June 11, 2013, JAE Hirosaki conducted eco-driving training. As one activity to enlighten drivers about CO2 reduction, this training has been offered every year since 2007 during Environment Month. With an external instructor invited by JAE Hirosaki, 352 trainees have taken the course, including 51 this time. 

(2) The Bika-Pika Campaign
On June 5, 2013, 52 volunteers took part in the Bika-Pika Campaign, a series of cleanup activities intended to express gratitude toward the area of Kita Watoku Kogyo Danchi where we work and National Route 7, the road upon which we commute. Another goal is to deepen employee interest in environmental protection on the occasion of the annual World Environment Day. 

(3) Iwaki River riverside cleanup
On September 14, 2013, a total of 51 people, including the families of employees, conducted a cleanup of the Iwaki River riverside. This is an annual event with activities held to show appreciation for the Iwaki River that carries with it abundant blessings from its source in Shirakami-Sanchi, as well as for the riverside area that serves as the venue of company softball games. Another objective is to deepen an appreciation among employees for the protection of the river environment. 

 

●JAE Yamagata, Ltd.
(1) Support for recovery in Shiogama City, Miyagi Prefecture
In efforts to support recovery efforts after the Great East Japan Earthquake, JAE Yamagata lent a helping hand to often overlooked locations, assisting with cleanup work around private homes, removing weeds, and cleaning up around the shoreline. (Activity time: 2 people, one day.) 

(2) Cleanup Efforts
On June 29, 2013, the JAE Yamagata Labor Union sponsored a cleanup effort at Yokoneyama Industrial Park. This year a total of approximately 110 people came out for the event, including YAE executives. The cleanup was blessed with fine weather. A year had passed since the previous cleanup, and it was unfortunate to see how much trash had already accumulated. With everyone’s help, the collected trash was sorted and properly disposed. 

(3) Higashiyama Park Cleanup
On July 27, 2013 at Higashiyama Park, an athletic park within city limits, cleanup activities were undertaken by 55 people, 17 more than the previous time. Participants included JAE executive officers, social contribution promotion members, volunteer employees and their families and children. Blessed by beautiful weather, the work started early, and by the end, everyone had worked up a good sweat. 

●JAE Fuji, Ltd. (FAE)

The company once again participated in the environmental beautification and cleanup effort at Mt. Fuji in 2013. A total of 18 people participated, starting with the president as well as employees and their families, with cleanup activities taking place around Mt. Fuji’s Fifth Station. 

●JAE Shinshu, Ltd. (SAE)

(1) Tenryu River environmental picnic
On June 2, 2013, under the slogans “Let’s bring back a Tenryu River that we can swim in” and “Let’s build a sustainable society,” 39 employees from JAE Shinshu, including their families, participated in the Tenryu River environmental picnic. Sponsored by the Nagano Techno Foundation, SAE, and two other companies, approximately 4,700 people from the co-sponsor organizations and companies, including their families, participated in this environmental beautification campaign that fosters thinking on the significance and importance of garbage sorting, and together with getting a real feel for what the Tenryu River is today, aims to build a recycling society. JAE, together with two other companies, conducted activities in the Tenryu River riverside in the Matsukawa area. This time was notable as it marked the 20th anniversary of these activities, which was celebrated in the opening ceremony. Representatives from the sponsoring organizations offered greetings, and participating companies were presented with commemorative items. In addition, companies that had made great contributions through their many years of participation, SAE being one, were presented with letters of gratitude from the sponsor. 

(2) Maintaining trails on Mt. Eboshi
On July 27, 2013, seven people, including one from SAE, took part in maintaining the trails of Mt. Eboshi and the summit of Mt. Kohachiro. The effort was sponsored by Matsukawa-machi and the local Chamber of Commerce. 

(3) Garbage collection around the company
In 2013, the company switched from a single annual trash collection day to two collection days, one in the first half of the fiscal year, on June 14, and the other in the second half, on November 12. Each time there were two routes for trash collection, one within company premises, and the other taken along major nearby roads, with about 50 and 30 participants, respectively. By picking up trash, they worked to beautify the local area and to raise awareness of environmental protection

●JAE Oregon

As a measure to conserve electricity, JAE Oregon has switched to eco-friendly type molding dryers and lighting. It has also reduced the volume of toxic industrial waste. 


●JAE Taiwan

JAE Taiwan conducts cleanup activities within its plant area and implements ongoing energy-saving initiatives with the objective of reducing the amount of electricity it uses.

●JAE Philippines

AE Philippines is constantly striving to reduce the volume of water and electricity it uses. It is also very active in community activities, such as educating students on garbage processing and cleaning up around Manila Bay.

●JAE Wuxi

JAE Wuxi is switching to LED lighting and making efforts to cut the volume of water it uses. It also continues to strive to prevent pollution from chemical substances and toxic substances. It also periodically engages in cleanup efforts around its plant.

●JAE Wujiang

JAE Wujiang reduced the volume of electricity used by applying a thermal barrier coating to the rooftop. It is also actively promoting ongoing energy conservation efforts through Cool Biz and other initiatives, measures to prevent pollution by chemical substances, measures against toxic substances, and the greening of the plant site.
