In 2024, many natural disasters such as droughts and floods occurred due to heat waves and heavy rains, which are believed to have been caused by climate change. It was also reported that 2024 was the hottest year on record globally. In Japan, temperatures were said to be the highest on record, and the large number of extremely hot days was particularly notable. In Noto, Ishikawa Prefecture, a major flood caused by the "September 2024 Noto Peninsula Heavy Rain" occurred following the earthquake on New Year's Day, resulting in extensive damage. Around the world, large-scale floods caused by the landfall of several major hurricanes in the United States and heavy rain damage in Spain were also observed, highlighting the urgent need to accelerate climate change measures.
We, the JAE Group, recognize the importance of achieving sustainable growth as we work toward a recycling-oriented society through a wide range of environmental activities as part of our sustainability management efforts. We have set "harmony with the environment" as a slogan in the "JAE Group Charter of Corporate Behavior" and are promoting environmentally friendly corporate activities that respect the natural environment.
The Group’s environmental commitment not only includes compliance with laws but also a zero-tolerance policy on pollution, and the Group works to resolve environmental issues in nature overall, including taking steps to address climate change and protecting biodiversity, and its policy is to disclose necessary information publicly.
Of all the environmental issues that we face, we view climate change as the most important, and we are all working together to address it.
As a result of the Group’s rigorous energy-saving initiatives and the introduction of renewable energy, we were able to achieve the fiscal 2030 greenhouse gas reduction target, which was set in 2022, well ahead of schedule. As a result, we established new reduction targets last year. Going forward, we will further promote various measures, such as energy conservation, in-house power generation, and the introduction of renewable energy, with the aim of achieving these new targets.
The JAE Group will actively pursue the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions without complacency, contribute to the mitigation of climate change, and challenge new initiatives for environmental sustainability while practicing environmentally friendly manufacturing. We strive to balance corporate activities with the protection of the global environment and humbly request your continued understanding and support.
JAE supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
