Significance of the 2025 Environmental Report Masatsugu Takahashi, Executive Officer
Director in Charge of Environment, JAE Group
We recognize that global environmental issues, such as climate change, resource depletion, and the loss of biodiversity have become increasingly serious in recent years. In this context, we are strongly aware that the social responsibility expected of corporations is growing in importance.
The JAE Group has positioned the promotion of sustainability as an important management policy and is working to balance business activities with environmental preservation. In the environmental field, we have set targets for climate change countermeasures, waste reduction, and reductions in the use of chemical substances, striving for continuous improvement while aiming to expand production and reduce environmental impact at the same time.
In fiscal 2024, we implemented the following initiatives to achieve our environmental targets.
As part of our climate change countermeasures, we introduced highly efficient production facilities, converted lighting to LED, and automated the control of operating compressors as energy-saving measures. In logistics, we worked to reduce CO2 emissions by promoting modal shifts and using reusable trays. As a result, we achieved a 24.6% reduction in CO2 emissions compared with the crude-oil-equivalent volume in fiscal 2012.
For waste reduction, we promoted the recycling of molded scraps and unused molded materials as valuable resources. We also advanced recycling by reviewing waste-disposal methods and providing training on waste sorting.
Furthermore, in addressing regulations on chemical substances contained in products, we emphasized communication with our business partners and built a cooperative framework based on mutual trust by providing data on chemical substance content. We will continue to strengthen our management systems to ensure full legal compliance and to provide safe and reliable products.
In fiscal 2024, our group company Meiyu Giken Co., Ltd. obtained ISO 14001 certification as part of JAE’s domestic multi-site certification. This forms part of our efforts to enhance environmental management and drive continuous improvement across the Group. Going forward, we will strive to further improve the Group’s overall environmental performance.
