Environmental Report 2014

Setting Targets and Evaluating Activity Results

In an effort to lower its environmental impact and promote the production of environmentally friendly products, the JAE Group is working under ISO 14001 multi-site certification. Goals and targets have been set for domestic Group companies while at the same time respecting the uniqueness of each site. One goal that was substantially exceeded was improvement on energy usage on a per-unit basis. The Group leveraged the Action Plan for Achieving a Low-Carbon Society, an industry-wide initiative to address global warming that the JAE Group joined starting in fiscal 2013. Through this effort, the JAE Group was able to significantly surpass goals for cutting energy usage, as well as reducing usage of chemical substances and reducing waste and use of other materials. In addition to lowering its environmental impact, the Group succeeded in raising the bar on its environmental management. The following table shows the primary activities.

Note that the letters in parentheses, such as JAE, are abbreviations denoting sites that carried out the activity in question.
