Environmental Report 2016
Setting Targets and Evaluating Activity Results
In an effort to lower its environmental impact and promote the production of environmentally friendly products, the JAE Group works under ISO 14001 multi-site certification, and respecting the autonomy of each site, it sets goals and objectives on an annual basis, and carries out activities as the JAE Group in Japan in accordance with three-year medium-term plans. In fiscal 2015, its main activities were as shown in the table below. The JAE Group took action to reduce usage of chemical substances and reduce waste and usage of other materials, which are activities closely associated with efforts to improve production efficiency and quality. As the Group was able to reach its goals part way through the fiscal year, the goals were revised upwards, which enabled the Group to achieve significant cost reductions, lower environmental impact, and in addition, to raise the bar on environmental management.
In particular, with regard to global warming, a long-term issue of global importance, the JAE Group is participating in the Commitment to a Low Carbon Society, based on the declaration of Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), and it is conducting activities to improve energy usage per unit. These are efforts that work to raise energy usage efficiency with regard to a variety of production ratios. Participation enabled us to see another issue, namely, the need to construct a more stable energy usage structure that could also stand up well to major changes in production volumes.
Note that the letters in parentheses, such as JAE, HAE, YAE and SAE, are abbreviations denoting sites that carried out the activity in question.
